By: infilm on 01/19/12

School District 72, the District Parent Advisory Council, and The Missoula Children's Theatre takes pride in presenting, The Pied Piper, an original adaptation of the classic children’s tale.

Auditions will be held at Penfield Elementary on Monday, January 30 at 3:30 p.m. (see below for more information)

What do you do when your town is overrun by ravenous rats? Sara, an orphan girl, and the other townspeople of Hamelin Town turn to the Mayor of Hamelin and his Council when their town is threatened. They then call on the Pied Piper to save them from the troublesome creatures. The Mayor's son and daughter and the Cooks also join in the endeavor.

Find out what happens when the town is unable to pay the Piper and the children are led away from the town along with the rats!

Auditions will be held at Penfield School on Monday, January 30 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. There are parts available for approximately 50 students from kindergarten to grade 12.

Students should arrive at 3:25 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two-hour audition. Some selected students will be asked to stay to rehearse the evening of January 30. All students must be prepared to attend rehearsals throughout the week at various times after school and in the early evening each day, as well as both performances. Please consider your schedules before trying out for a part. All rehearsals, except Friday night, will be held at Penfield Elementary School.

Among the roles to be cast are the Pied Piper, Sara, the Mayor's son and daughter, the Mayor's council, cooks, townkids and the troublesome rates. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. No advance preparation is necessary, but a smile and a positive attitude always helps.
