Andrew Richardson

Qualifications

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Andrew Richardson and I believe I can be the right fit to join your team, as I bring my love for the outdoors, experience with customers, computer skills and a good work ethic everyday.
I graduated from high school in Comox in 2004, since then I have had an eventful life. Originally I studied welding and continued to weld on and off for many years. During my welding years I took different jobs to expand my experience. Such as driving forklifts, using overhead cranes, delegating jobs, and working outside in -40C.
In 2012 I wanted to see more of the world and I decided to try my hand at travelling while working. During my Working Holiday I worked a few different jobs and ended up meeting a wonderful woman! In the years to come we travelled together to many different places in South America, Europe and Asia. As she is not Canadian we had to travel to be able to stay together. Now, that she has become a permanent resident we are hanging up our travelling shoes in British Columbia.
My experience has grown over the years starting from a Lead hand and apprentice teacher for Welding at NTL. I took the enjoyment from teaching apprentices to teaching kiteboarding in New Zealand and snow kiting in Norway. I needed to be flexible as every student learns in a different way while being strict on safety, to keep my students safe.
I was working in Norway at a mountain hotel after I started travelling. My jobs were always changing due to the demands of the people coming into the hotel. During the main season I was responsible for picking people up at the train station and driving them to the hotel about 20 km away. I also drove tractor for horse duties and snow clearing. A few times a week I would be tracking/grooming about 50 km of cross country ski trails. In the evenings I would have to prepare a fire in a tee pee and tell stories for the guest who needed to warm up from a sleigh ride. During the off season I would do different renovations.
I was the general go-to-person, if there was something broken in a room I would fix it, if help was needed in the kitchen I could go help do dishes. My nickname was the Potato, because I was good with everything!
The last few months of my time abroad I was in Germany with my wife’s family. I started working in event services, installing a main stage, backdrop, meeting areas and reception. I also had a position at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, where I was responsible for the reception and delivery of sensitive mail.
For the last year I have been working as an apprentice RV technician. I have enjoyed my time there and learned a lot, but in the process realized that it is not an industry that I want to pursue a career in.
I have a clean Drivers Abstract and have driven many company vehicles with no issue. I have had to collect money and keep an organized till while working in a skate shop. I love to learn new things, do them well and do them fast. I am sure I would be a valuable asset to your team!
