CAMPBELL RIVER, BC — July 31, 2026 — The Vancouver Island North Film Commission (INFilm) is officially launching a recruitment search for a new Director of Regional Film Services. This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time as the Vancouver Island film industry continues to see record-breaking interest from major international and domestic productions.

Since its inception in 2001, INFilm has been a cornerstone of the regional economy, facilitating over $250 million in direct economic impact. From blockbusters like Sonic the Hedgehog and Godzilla to beloved series like Chesapeake Shores, the region has become a global destination for high-fidelity storytelling.

“Our region offers a unique competitive advantage—stunning, diverse locations paired with a growing base of experienced local crew and multiple levels of provincial tax incentives,” said the INFilm Board of Directors. “We are looking for a visionary leader who can navigate the complexities of the modern motion picture industry while fostering deep roots within our local communities and First Nations partners.”

Key priorities for the position include:

• Regional & Community Insight: Bringing first-hand knowledge of the service region’s topography, distinct locations, and diverse communities to serve as a knowledgeable liaison between film crews, local government, and residents.

• Film & Television Industry Relations: Leveraging a thorough understanding of film production logistics, permitting, and industry needs to deliver a seamless experience for incoming productions.

• Economic Advocacy & Grant Development: Identifying, applying for, and securing sustainable funding streams and grants to expand the film commission’s operational footprint.

The recruitment period opens on July 31, 2026 and will close on August 31, 2026. The successful candidate is expected to begin their term on October 1, 2026, leading a new chapter of growth for the creative sector on Vancouver Island.
